COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College softball team swept a American Midwest Conference doubleheader 13-5, 6-1 against Lyon College on Saturday afternoon.
Kristin Eiken (Blair Oaks High School) had four hits and drove in a run, while Marli Hayes (Jefferson City High School) added three hits and three RBI to lead the Cougars (9-6, 4-0). Whitni Howell (Jefferson City High School) tallied two hits and drove in a run to help lead Columbia College, offensively.
Paxton Welch (Helias High School) was 1-for-2 and drove in a run in Game one. The freshman also threw 22/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits in the opener.
The Cougars will travel to Missouri Valley College for a non-conference doubleheader March 18 at 2 p.m. in Marshall.
