Harman leads Walnut Grove to girls Class 1 title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Heather Harman scored 30 points and Walnut Grove cruised to a second consecutive Class 1 girls championship with an 84-49 win over North Andrew.

Walnut Grove (28-4) scored the first seven points Saturday and gradually increased its lead to 45-25 at halftime. The win was a contrast to last year's championship game against Chamois the Tigers won on a free throw by Harman with 1.1 seconds left.

Lexi Harman, Heather Harman's cousin, scored 18 points for the Tigers.

Katie Cole led North Andrew (29-3) with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Kensey Edwards added 16 points. The Cardinals committed 33 turnovers and allowed the Tigers to shoot 52.4 percent from the field.

Walnut Grove captured its third overall title while North Andrew made its first appearance in the championship game.
