Missouri softball sweeps Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Missouri softball team improved to 15-5 on the season after recording a doubleheader sweep of the Evansville Purple Aces on Tuesday.

In the opener, Alora Marble improved to 2-0 on the season by pitching the Tigers to a 7-3 win.

Marble (Blair Oaks High School) threw a complete-game four-hitter, giving up three earned runs with three walks and three strikeouts.

The Tigers trailed 3-1 after four innings, but a four-run sixth and two more runs in the seventh won it for them.

Kelsea Roth smacked a pair of home runs and drove in three runs to lead the Tigers. Sarah Moore added a solo homer, Taylor Gadbois totaled three hits and Emily Crane had two hits and an RBI.

In the nightcap, Casey Stangel held Evansville (9-8) to six hits as Missouri posted a 6-2 win. Stangel gave up just one earned run while walking one and striking out five.

Sami Fagan and Kirsten Mack had two RBI apiece for Missouri.

Missouri returns to action Friday through Sunday when it begins the home portion of its schedule, and opens Southeastern Conference play, against Kentucky.

Friday’s action starts at 6:30 p.m.
