Texas A&M takes series from MU

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Missouri took the first game easily, but Texas A&M rallied to salvage the series victory in three games this weekend.

After Missouri rolled to a 7-0 win Friday night, Texas A&M thumped the Tiges 11-2 in just five innings Saturday. The Aggies then took the rubber match 4-3 in eight innings Sunday.

In Friday’s Southeastern Conference opener for both squads, Tori Finucane twirled a three-hitter to lead Missouri to the victory. She walked just two and struck out seven in the gem.

Mackenzie Sykes had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI to pace Missouri. Angela Randazzo also had a solo homer as one of her two hits, while Sami Fagan had two hits.

On Saturday, the Aggies scored their 11 runs on just six hits and cruised to the win.

Casey Stangel took the loss. She worked all four innings, giving up seven earned runs on six hits, six walks and two hit batters while striking out two.

Kirsten Mack’s two-run home run in the top of the second inning accounted for all of Missouri’s production.

Fagan had a three-run home run in the third to provide the Tigers with all of their runs. Missouri out-hit Texas A&M 7-5.

The Tigers, ranked 15th in the nation, fell to 13-5 overall and 1-2 in league play, while the 13th-ranked Aggies moved to 19-5 and 2-1.

Missouri travels to Evansville for a Wednesday doubleheader before playing their SEC home-opening series this weekend against Kentucky.
