Blue Jays start 2-0

FULTON - The Westminster Blue Jays started the season with a pair of wins, beating the University of Dubuque 2-0 and 5-2 in games Friday.

In the nightcap, Hughes had an RBI double in the third inning and also was the winning pitcher. He pitched six scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and three walks while striking out six.

Mike Washington (Jefferson City High School) had a two-run single in the second inning, with one of the runs scored by Danton Hughes (Helias High School), who had singled earlier in the frame. Washington added a solo home run in the fourth.
