Probation for local man in break-in

A Jefferson City man charged with breaking into the U.S. Marine Corps League building in Apache Flats in June 2013 was placed on five years supervised probation.

Robert Vaughn Jr., 23, of 127 Wagonwheel Road, was charged with second-degree burglary and resisting arrest.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Vaughn was seen walking from the rear of the business with several shirts with Marine logos on them.

When a deputy told him to stop, he fled on foot, but fell down and was taken into custody.

Vaughn said he had used a large rock to break a side window to gain entry.

He said he was looking for guns to steal.
