Thomas named MIAA Coach of the Year

Lincoln head coach Victor Thomas collected his fourth straight Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Track and Field Coach of the Year honor, the league announced Tuesday.

Thomas, now in his 12th season at the helm, led Lincoln to its seventh consecutive league championship and its fourth straight indoor title as the Blue Tiger women won the 2014 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday.

Since rejoining the MIAA in 2010, the Lincoln women have gone undefeated in league tittle meets, winning three straight outdoor championships and four consecutive outdoor titles.

With Lincoln's victory Sunday, the Blue Tigers became the first MIAA women's program in history to win four consecutive league titles.

Under Thomas' direction, Lincoln scored 153 points, won five events and set several meet and building records at the MIAA Championships, qualifying 13 athletes for the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships later this month.
