JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A proposed truce in the Kansas City business battle between Missouri and Kansas has gained another endorsement in Missouri.
The state House voted 151-3 Tuesday to pass a bill that would stop offering incentives for businesses to move from any of four Kansas counties to any of four Missouri counties in the Kansas City region. The Missouri Senate passed a similar measure last week.
The two states have together waived hundreds of millions of dollars of tax revenues in recent years by offering specialized incentives for businesses to relocate across the state line.
For the proposed truce to take effect, both Missouri chambers must pass an identical bill and have it signed by Gov. Jay Nixon. The Kansas Legislature or governor also must enact a similar measure.
