JCPD Community Action Team investigates heroin overdose

Monday, Jefferson City police were called to an apparent heroin overdose in the 2100 block of Louis Circle. Members of the Community Action Team responded to investigate and determined that the heroin was purchased at a local gas station parking lot in Jefferson City. The overdose victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence where the overdose occurred, and located approximately two (2) ounces of marijuana and items related to the packaging and sales of marijuana. Investigators found that the victim and another party were packaging the marijuana when the victim overdosed on heroin.
The victim, Darin Woods, 25, of Jefferson City, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute, and taken to the Cole County Jail. The investigation still continues, and other arrests related to the incident are pending.
