Missouri baseball splits a pair

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Missouri baseball team went 1-1 in action Saturday at the Arkansas-Little Rock Invitational.

On Saturday morning, the Tigers fell by an 11-8 score to IPFW, blowing a 5-2 lead in large part because of a six-run fourth inning for the Mastadons.

Ryan Howard went 3-for-5 with four RBI to pace Missouri on offense, as he was the only Tiger with multiple hits. Dillon Everett had one hit and two RBI, while Jake Ivory had one hit and one RBI.

The Tigers used six pitchers in the loss, with John Miles starting and taking the loss.

Later in the day, Missouri snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-0 win against Illinois-Chicago.

Brett Graves twirled a game, allowing just two hits - a single in the first and another in the third - during eight shutout innings. That extended his shutout streak to 15 consecutive innings. He walked just one while striking out six.

Keaton Steele worked a 10-pitch ninth to lock up the win.

Missouri scored single runs in the first, sixth, seventh and ninth innings. Dylan Kelly had three hits and one RBI, while Kendall Keaton added two hits and one RBI. Eric Anderson and Josh Lester had two hits each, while Zach Lavy drove in one run.

The Tigers canceled their final game of the weekend, a matchup with the host school, in order to beat the weather back to Columbia.

Missouri, which has already canceled games Tuesday and Wednesday with Alabama A&M in Columbia, will now try to host Southern Mississippi on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
