Post 5 Auxiliary splits

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Post 5 Auxiliary team split a doubleheader Saturday in the final round of the Southeast Missouri State University Midwest Classic.

Post 5 opened with an 11-0 loss to the SEMO Scrappers, but bounced back in the nightcap to claim a 7-6 win against the Indiana Chiefs.

Alex Dickneite took the loss in Game 1, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits in six innings of work.

Dylan Hoelscher, Sam Hager and Will Robertson each had hits for Post 5 in the opener.

Sam Hager received the victory in the nightcap after allowing four runs on five hits, while striking out three in four innings.

James Reinkemeyer and Sam Bowles closed out the game on the mound.

Hager was 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Robertson had two doubles and drove in a run to lead Post 5 at the plate. Hoelscher added two hits and an RBI to help pace the offense.

Post 5 (6-4) will compete July 11 in the Fike Wood Bat Tournament.
