BizBeat: Jefferson City Young Professionals Summit nears

Jefferson City Young Professionals, formerly known as hYPe, will host the third annual YP Summit.

The Aug. 18 event will be at Canterbury Hill Winery in Holts Summit. Young professionals from across the state are invited to attend.

"We see this as our signature event that we hope to grow regionally and perhaps even into a statewide event," member Jason Cecil said.

The idea of a summit for young professionals, Cecil said, originally came from Ken Hussey and Gus Wagner. They helped host the event three years ago.

"We see a desire from young professionals to develop their skills so they can grow in their careers as well as develop long-lasting relationships in the community."

Because professional development opportunities that are directed toward young professionals are not offered in abundance, the summit was developed to fill that gap.

The YP Summit will include an audience of approximately 100-career-minded, entrepreneurial and forward thinking individuals, with a program featuring two keynote speakers. Presenters will focus on professional and personal success. The six-hour event will also feature other presenters of business and community leaders giving short quick-fire presentations on their area of experitise.

Those interested in attending can register online at 2014YPSummit.eventbrite.com or see more details on the Chamber's website.
