BancorpSouth names president, COO

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Chris Bagley, a 31-year veteran of the banking industry, has been named BancorpSouth's new president and chief operating officer.

Bagley succeeds James Kelley, who is retiring the dual posts on Aug. 15. Kelley has been president and COO since 2000.

Bagley joined BancorpSouth earlier this year as executive vice president. He had been an executive officer and chief credit officer of Houston, Texas-based Prosperity Bancshares.

BancorpSouth Chairman and CEO Dan Rollins, who was named chief executive of the Tupelo-based financial institution in November 2012, was president and COO of Prosperity before joining BancorpSouth.

BancorpSouth Inc. is headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi, with $13.1 billion in assets. It operates 295 commercial banking, mortgage, and insurance locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas, including insurance location in Illinois.
