Area baseball players nab all-state honors

A total of 22 area players earned all-state honors when the Missouri high School Baseball Coaches Association announced its list of honorees recently.

In Class 5, the Jefferson City Jays had three honorees, while the Helias Crusaders earned two spots on the squad.

For Jefferson City, all three were honorable-mention selections - pitcher Travis Hennessey, catcher Jackson Walker and infielder Hayden Strobel. Helias' Alex Barton was a second-team pick at catcher, while teammate Alex Faddoul earned a spot at DH/utility.

Seven area players landed on the Class 3 team, with three of them being first teamers - Blair Oaks catcher Logan Bax and outfielders Will Robertson of Fatima and Cory Hanger of South Callaway.

Fatima, which took third place in the state and finished third in the final state rankings, added two second-teamers in infielder Reid Kesel and outfielder Hunter Hennier.

Also for South Callaway, Gordon Arthaud was a second-team pitcher and Smith Kemper was an honorable mention pick at DH/utility.

The Linn Wildcats, who finished third in the state in Class 2 and came in third in the final poll, had five players earn all-state honors. Tony Mebruer (infielder) and Ryan Mantle (DH/utility) were first-teamers, Alec Shoop (DH/utility) was a second-teamer, and Eathan Hickey (infielder) and Ben Klebba (DH/utility) were honorable mention picks.

The Calvary Lutheran Lions had three all-staters in Class 1. Caleb Propst at catcher and Beau Monson at DH/utility were second-team picks, while Wyatt Archer was an honorable mention infielder.

Tuscumbia's Wyatt Ahart was a first-team infielder, while teammate Zane Humphreys was a second-teamer at DH/utility.
