Local students attending Girls State event this week

Girls State runs this week on the campus of University of Missouri in Warrensburg.

Students in their junior year of high school are eligible to attend and are judged from an essay and interview process. Girls State is an educational program designed to teach constructive attitude toward the American form of government.

Local girls attending:

Ashton Bernskoetter, daughter of Terry and Stephanie Bernskoetter, is a student at Cole R-V High School. She is in National Honor Society, is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FBLA and church youth group.

Abby Block, daughter of Travis Block and Stacey Meyer, is a student at Helias Catholic High School. She is in National Honor Society, Student Ambassador, Club International, Math Team and SADD.

Jolie Duffner, daughter of Paul and Sharon Duffner, is a student at Blair Oaks High School. She is in National Honor Society, class president, in Spanish Club, on Student Council and plays sports.
