BizBeat: Grand Cafe lives up to its name

The Grand Cafe restaurant, located in downtown Jefferson City, was recently recognized on TripAdvisor with a Certificate of Excellence award. The award honors hospitality excellence, and is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.

"We are extremely proud of this accolade, especially as we draw close to our 2-year anniversary," Ben Huhman, executive chef and Grand Cafe owner said.

Huhman said his team is great and always looks for ways to bring something new and fresh to Jefferson City patrons.

"I can't begin to express my gratitude to our patrons and to everyone who has taken the time to share a review. We love what we do here and we hope to continue to serve the community well."

The Certificate of Excellence award is based on feedback from those who matter most, according to Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for Business.

The Grand Cafe opened in downtown Jefferson City in July 2012 and prides itself in quality over quantity. Nearly everything is made in-house from bread and pastas to sauces, salad dressings and even dessert.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm, taking review ratings into account, to determine the honorees. Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business' tenure and popularity rating on the site.
