Post 5 Auxiliary loses first two in tourney

ST. LOUIS - The Jefferson City Post 5 Auxiliary team dropped its first two games Friday in the Midwest Tournament of Champions at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

In its first game, the local club dropped a 10-9 decision to the St. Louis Dirtbags.

Will Robertson had two hits and two RBI for Post 5, Adam Grunden and Logan Vogel had two hits and one RBI apiece, and Dylan Hoelscher scored two runs and drove in another.

Sam Bowles pitched the first four innings, giving up five earned runs while striking out five. Sam Hager followed and took the loss while giving up three earned runs in two innings. Alex Dickneite finished up.

Post 5 then dropped an 11-1 decision to the Quakes, committing five errors against a team that boasts six Division I signees.

Vogel took the loss, giving up five earned runs on 10 hits with one strikeout in four innings on the hill.

Zach Hudspeth had one hit and one RBI to pace the offense.

Post 5 (3-2) will return to action in the event at 9 a.m. today.
