Woman's body found in freezer at her Indiana home

LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a woman's body was found inside a freezer at her northern Indiana home and that a man living with her has been arrested on a preliminary murder charge.

LaPorte County Prosecutor Robert Szilagyi says the body will have to be thawed out before an autopsy can be performed and that he doesn't know how long she has been dead. Authorities haven't released the woman's name.

Szilagyi said the woman was about 70 years old.

Police were called to the home Sunday night, found the body and placed 47-year-old Daniel Shoffner under arrest. It isn't clear whether he has an attorney.

Neighbor Robert Peals says Shoffner had been living with the woman for several months since her husband's death.
