MoDOT reveals prioritized transportation project list

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) released the preliminary list of projects for the entire state of Missouri Friday, as required by the language of the proposed Constitutional Amendment 7.

The amendment would create a ¾ of a cent sales tax with revenues being used to fund transportation improvements across the state.

The multi-page document divides the state into geographic regions and lists each project as they were proposed by local transportation planning organizations. These organizations submitted their proposal to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for review, according to the MoDOT release.

MoDOT Customer Service Representative Holly Dentner said the department is still calculating the cost of the projects, which are not yet available.

Mid-Missouri residents' first opportunity to express their opinions to MoDOT officials will be at meeting Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, 428 E. Capitol Ave. in Jefferson City.

The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission will be accepting public comments through July 3, including those submitted at public forums and online. All public comments and the final projects list will be approved at the July 9 commission meeting in Jefferson City.

The following projects and the entire list for the state of Missouri are now available for public input and comment at MoDOT's website, http://www.modot.org/movingforward/.

These projects would only receive funding if Missouri voters pass the amendment on the August ballot and if they make the final projects list.
