WASHINGTON (AP) - Emma Meesseman took advantage of Elena Delle Donne's absence for Chicago to finish with career highs of 16 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Washington Mystics to a 79-68 victory over the short-handed Sky on Friday night.
Bria Hartley had 13 points and Tianna Hawkins added 10 to help the Mystics (5-5) snap a three-game losing streak.
Allie Quigley scored 18 points and Epiphanny Prince had 17 for the Sky (5-5), who lost their fourth straight. Delle Donne, the WNBA's second-leading scorer, missed a second straight game for Chicago while receiving treatment for a reoccurrence of Lyme disease.
Washington outscored Chicago 25-15 in the fourth quarter. An 8-0 run early in the period gave the Mystics a 62-55 lead.
SUN 83, LIBERTY 75
NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Bentley scored 24 points and Chiney Ogwumike added 20 as Connecticut withstood a furious New York rallyt.
Connecticut (5-6) dominated the first 20 minutes of the game in building a 20-point halftime lead. The Sun led 59-41 with 3:49 left in the third quarter before New York (3-7) closed the period on an 11-2 run and then cut their deficit to two points in the fourth quarter a few times. The Liberty just couldn't take the lead.
Two free throws by Tina Charles made it 70-68 with 4:34 left before Bentley and Connecticut put the game away.
DREAM 85, LYNX 82
ATLANTA (AP) - Angel McCoughtry scored 23 points, Erika de Souza had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Atlanta held on to get a rare win against Minnesota.
The Dream had lost 12 of their last 13 games against the Lynx, including sweeps in the 2011 and 2013 WNBA Finals. However, Atlanta (6-3) sealed its third straight victory when McCoughtry grabbed a defensive rebound, was fouled by Maya Moore and hit an ensuing free throw with 2.8 seconds remaining.
Lindsay Whalen finished with 22 points, Janel McCarville had a season-high 18 and Seimone Augustus scored 17 for Minnesota (8-2).
Moore, the finals MVP last season, had 10 points and nine rebounds.
STORM 79, STARS 72
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Tanisha Wright scored 15 points and Seattle never trailed in a win against San Antonio.
Camille Little scored 13 points, Temeka Johnson added 11 and Shekinna Stricklen and Crystal Langhorne had 10 each for the Storm (5-7).
Danielle Adams had 18 points, Danielle Robinson added 14 and Sophia Young-Malcolm 12 for the Stars (4-6), who have lost four of five.
The Stars opened the final quarter on an 11-0 run to cut the Storm's lead to 65-59 with 5 minutes remaining. Wright hit a pair of free throws with 4:18 remaining to end the drought and help quell the rally.
SHOCK 69, SPARKS 67
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Skylar Diggins scored 22 points to lead Tulsa to its third straight win.
Diggins reached double figures for the seventh time in eight games this season and Jordan Hooper added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, for the Shock (3-5). Glory Johnson had 11 points and Courtney Paris finished with 15 rebounds.
Candace Parker scored 18 points and Nneka Ogwumike had 17 to lead the Sparks (3-5).
In a game that featured 13 lead changes and 12 ties, Tulsa went ahead midway through the third period on Diggins' basket for a 47-45 lead. Los Angeles fell behind by seven before rallying to tie the score on Jantel Lavendar's basket with 4:38 to play.
