The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released its All-MIAA Newcomer Academic Honor Roll Tuesday, and 21 first-year Lincoln athletes made the list. Freshmen or transfer student-athletes who finished two full semesters at an MIAA school were eligible.
Lincoln softball had the most selections (five) among all Blue Tigers teams: juniors Kassidey Borland (3.5 GPA), Alyssa Laudwig (3.444), Allyson Corry (3.308), Jessica Cook (3.0) and sophomore Cassidey Janicek (3.037).
Freshmen Nadia Harriott (4.0), Willomena Williams (3.417), Erika Spencer (3.147) and Akeeba Rose (3.0) represented the women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Harriott, a biology major, received the MIAA Academic Excellence Award.
Men’s basketball also had four honorees: juniors Dimitrije Gudovski (3.72) and Joshua Buie (3.667) and freshmen Blake Derickson (3.167) and Deshon Williams (3.0). Buie, an accounting major, received the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award.
Freshmen Cameron Reeves (3.375) and Justus Schulte (3.04) represented the Lincoln football team. Junior Kate Frazier (3.333) and sophomore Lizzie Nessling (3.077) represented women’s basketball. Freshmen Nicholus Grant (3.88) and Darran Hunter (3.542) were the men’s indoor and outdoor track and field members to make the list.
Senior Brian Lillevold (3.333), a member of the All-MIAA Men’s Golf team, was also named to the honor roll. Lincoln women’s golf also had a player make the list: freshman Mackenzie Wilson (3.52).
Honorees must have received a cumulative GPA of more than 3.00 and had to attend at least two non-summer terms at an MIAA institution. The MIAA Scholar-Athlete goes to those with a GPA above 3.50, with more than two semesters at an MIAA school and All-MIAA honors. The MIAA Academic Excellence Award is granted when an honor roll recipient earns a 4.0 GPA.
