Post 5 Auxilary improves to 3-0

KANSAS CITY- The Jefferson City Post 5 Auxiliary baseball team won three games over the weekend to begin its season with a perfect record.

In the first game, the team won 7-6 against the Wichita Reds. Sam Bowles threw 5 innings of two-hit baseball, allowed no runs and struck out seven.

Brent Heckemeyer went 3-4, and Zach Hudspeth drove in two runs. Bret Jaegers and James Reinkemeyer had an RBI apiece.

In the second game, Post 5 rallied in the seventh inning to defeat Inside Edge 4-3. Sam Hager pitched 51/3 innings, walking four and allowing three runs, one of which was earned.

Logan Vogel went 3-3 with 2 RBI, including the walkoff hit. Heckemeyer was 3-3.

Bowles pitched 12/3 scoreless relief innings and receieved his second win of the weekend.

He got his third straight "W" in the team's 5-4 win against Building Champions.

It was the second-straight walkoff win for Post 5. Matt Temmen began the bottom of the seventh with a single. Alec Verhoff walked, and Vogel reached on an error to load the bases.

Bowles, who pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win, singled to right to score the tying run and Reinkemeyer drew the game-winning walk.

Reinkemeyer threw six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven. Jaegers had a solo home run.

Post 5 (3-0) travels to St. Louis June 21-22.
