Green to compete in NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA - Heather Green is one of eight Missouri women's track and field athletes who will compete at the NCAA Division I Championships in Eugene, Ore.

The event, hosted by the University of Oregon, starts today and runs through Saturday.

Green (Jefferson City High School) will make her debut on the big stage after placing 10th in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet, 3 inches at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Fayetteville, Ark. The senior will enter the event, which starts today, as the No. 14 seed.

In high school, Green helped lead the Lady Jays to four consecutive district championships from 2006-09 and three consecutive state titles from 2006-08. As an individual, Green was a four-time all-state pole vaulter and also earned all-state honors in the high jump in 2007.

The Tigers, who are taking their largest squad in program history to the NCAA Finals, are ranked No. 18 in the country according to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association.
