Dear Editor:
Just can't get this off my mind.
I find it hard to comprehend that the good citizens of Cole County are allowing three elected officials to make the decision to tear down our historic sheriff's house and jail.
I decided to go by and look at the site and drove through the adjacent parking lot and thought, is this parking lot for county officials more important than the historic structure owned by the citizens?
Here is a thought. Leave the historic structure in place, put it to good use for something such as a visitor center and build your new building on the parking lot. I realize a prime parking spot is precious, but so is our history. A daily walk to work never hurt anybody!
