St. Louis company fined $35K for telemarketing

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri's attorney general says a St. Louis company has been fined $35,000 for violating the state's no-call list for telemarketing.

Attorney General Chris Koster says the case against Pure Air Inc. was the first brought to trial for violations of the no-call list. Numerous other cases alleging no-call violations have been settled without going to trial.

Online court records show that St. Louis County Circuit Judge Colleen Dolan issued an injunction against Pure Air and its president, Noach Palatnik, on May 21.

Koster said Tuesday that his office received more complaints about Pure Air's phone calls than about any other single telemarketer. He said the fine is to be paid within 90 days.

People have placed more than 4.3 million phone numbers on Missouri's off-limits list for telemarketers.
