Your Opinion: Transportation tax shifts burden unfairly

Dear Editor:

I will keep this short and maybe not so sweet. This three-fourth cent transportation sales tax coming up for a vote is, in my opinion, all part of a bigger plan to cut income taxes for the wealthy and corporations and raise taxes on the masses, comprised of low- and middle-income people, not to mention seniors and disabled individuals living on fixed incomes.

If voted in, this three-fourths cent sales tax will probably never go away. I think that roads should be paid for by those who use them via the use of fuel taxes. And, I do not think it is fair to exempt watercraft from fuel taxes as is apparently the case. Guess who benefit most from that exemption?

I encourage voters to vote no on this sales tax issue.
