PHOENIX (AP) - Brittney Griner scored 18 points and the Phoenix Mercury tied the second-longest winning streak in WNBA history with their 15th straight victory, beating the New York Liberty 78-63 on Saturday night.
The Mercury (21-3) matched the 1998 Houston Comets with the victory and are three short of the league mark set by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001.
Griner also had eight rebounds and six blocks, and Diana Taurasi added 15 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for Phoenix, which clinched home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Tina Charles had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead New York (10-14). The Liberty had won three in a row and six of their last eight.
The Mercury's last loss was a 96-95 setback at Connecticut on June 12.
SPARKS 77, STORM 69
SEATTLE (AP) - Nneka Ogwumike scored 22 and Candace Parker added 19 to help Los Angeles beat Seattle for general manager Penny Toler's first victory as a coach.
Ogwumike scored 10 points in the final quarter as the Sparks (11-14) moved three games ahead of the Storm (9-18) for the fourth and final Western Conference playoff berth.
Crystal Langhorne had 21 points and Camille Little added 16 to lead Seattle, which has lost five straight and six of seven.
Toler lost her first two games after she took over July 20 following the dismissal of coach Carol Ross.
The Sparks are 4-0 against Seattle this year and have clinched any potential tiebreaker.
FEVER 75, STARS 68
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Lynetta Kizer scored 16 points and Indiana rallied to beat San Antonio.
Shavonte Zellous added 14 points and Natasha Howard had 11 for Indiana (12-13), which tied Washington for second place in the Eastern Conference.
Becky Hammon scored 18 points and Danielle Robinson added 15 for San Antonio (12-14), which suffered back-to-back losses after losing at Minnesota on Friday night.
In her first home game since announcing her retirement, Hammon showed flashes of former All-Star form. She drove and double-pumped at her hip, spinning the ball off the glass for a layup that pulled the Stars to 55-52 with 8 minutes remaining. She later hit a 3-pointer and drove in for a layup that pulled San Antonio to 74-68 in the final minute.
