ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia has announced sophomore defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor has been dismissed following his arrest on assault and family violence charges.

The school announced Taylor's dismissal Wednesday.

A University of Georgia police department report stated Taylor allegedly used his hands to choke and hit his girlfriend, whose name was not released.

Taylor was arrested early Tuesday and released from Athens-Clarke County Jail on a $5,000 bond Wednesday.

The defensive end was listed third on the depth chart entering summer camp.
