Four people killed in Camden County wreck

Three members of an Illinois family and a Warsaw man were killed after a motor vehicle accident Wednesday morning on the Niangua Bridge just north of Camdenton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 56-year-old man, Randal D. Estes, was driving his 1993 Peterbilt dump truck Wednesday, July 23 on Route 5 on the Niangua Bridge north of Camdenton when at approximately 7:40 a.m. his vehicle suffered a flat tire on the front driver's side and caused Estes to lose control of the vehicle.

Estes then allegedly crossed into the southbound lane striking a 2012 Ford F250 truck driven by 50-year-old Terry L. Schroeder, Benson, Illinois, head on. Schroeder's vehicle was pulling a boat on a trailer, and when the collision occurred the boat continued forward and struck the rear his vehicle.

The Camden County Medical Examiner Angela D. Halterman pronounced Estes and Schroeder, as well as passengers in the Ford F250 truck, 46-year-old Cindy Schroeder and 14-year-old Dylan Schroeder, both of Benson, Illinois, dead at the scene at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday.

An additional passenger in the Ford F250 truck, 14-year-old Donnie Schroeder of Benson, Illinois, was listed in serious condition and transported to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia by Staff for Life helicopter services.

Both traffic lanes of Route 5 were closed over the Niangua River following the accident for approximately six hours Wednesday.

Missouri State Highway Patrol, Camden County Sheriff's Office and Mid-County Fire Protection District assisted with the accident.
