Local man chased down after assault on woman

A Jefferson City man was charged with assaulting a woman and fleeing from police on Saturday.

Court documents show Kenneth Clark, 25, of 825 E. High St., is charged with second-degree assault, victim tampering and resisting arrest.

A police probable cause statement shows Clark assaulted a woman with his fists and in the presence of two juvenile children.

He then left the residence and was spotted driving in the 800 block of West McCarty Street.

Officers tried to stop Clark, but he refused and a pursuit began.

Clark eventually stopped in a parking lot in the 400 block of Clark Avenue and fled on foot.

He was eventually located in the 1000 block of West McCarty Street and taken into custody.

The victim later told police that during the pursuit, Clark had called her and said once he got out of jail he would kill her.

As of Monday Clark was being held on $15,000 bond.
