Local man sentenced in April shooting

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to 120 days shock detention for pleading guilty to a charge in connection with an April shooting.

Javier Morris, 17, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault. Charges of discharging a firearm and armed criminal action were dismissed.

Officers were called to the 400 block of East Dunklin Street for a call of multiple shots fired into a residence. A 33-year-old male victim was shot one time through his torso.

The woman who lived in the residence where the shooting took place told police she was selling marijuana out of her apartment.
