Post 5 Auxiliary falls in semifinals

At tournament in Blue Springs

BLUE SPRINGS - The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Auxiliary dropped an 8-7 decision in nine innings Sunday to Fike Post 499 in the semifinals of the Fike Post 499 Wood Bat Tournament.

The Post 5 Auxiliary scored all seven of its runs in the fifth inning, stringing togther seven straight hits.

Sam Bowles and Adam Grunden finished with two hits and two RBI each for Post 5.

Bowles took the loss in relief, pitching the eighth and ninth innings. He allowed one run on three hits and recorded a strikeout.

Logan Vogel pitched the first two innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He struck out two. Alex Anderson worked the next five frames, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out three.

The Post 5 Auxiliary (11-5) is back in action this weekend in a tournament in Kansas City.
