Post 5 Auxiliary starts 2-0

In Blue Springs Tournament

BLUE SPRINGS - The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Auxiliary went 2-0 to start play Wednesday in the Blue Springs Wood Bat Tournament.

Post 5 opened with a 4-1 win against Post 339 East of Bellevue, Neb. Chris Dickneite was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Dylan Hoelscher and Alex Verhoff both had two hits in the win. Sam Bowles and Alex Anderson drove in runs.

Post 5 then was a 4-2 winner against the Hays (Kan.) Eagles. Anderson went the distance to get the win, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out two.

Hoelscher had two hits and scored two runs, while Adam Grunden had two hits and an RBI.

Post 5 is back in action at 9 a.m. today against the Lee's Summit Post 189 Pirates.
