JC man given probation in drug case

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges filed after authorities conducted a narcotics-related search warrant in February at 316 E. Ashley St.

Aaron Todd, 34, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Officers seized a psilocybin mushroom-growing operation, 17 one-gallon plastic bags of psilocybin mushrooms in excess of four pounds, more than one pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

Court records show the operation was in the kitchen area with seven large storage tubs, containing soil and young mushrooms, grow lights, scales and a food dehydrator to speed up the drying.

Officers alswo seized $1,820 in currency during the search.

The psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana had a street value of $9,000.
