Holts Summit woman receives probation

A Holts Summit woman was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance in connection with the sale of marijuana.

Another charge of possession of a controlled substance and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed against Tonya Powell, 41.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Powell was stopped on Ellis Boulevard in April after she was seen leaving a hotel on Jefferson Street where several drug arrests had taken place in the past.

A search of her vehicle found an ounce of marijuana, some packaged for sale, along with scales pipes and sandwich bags.
