Boehm, Golden named to watch lists

COLUMBIA - For the second time this week, Missouri football players Evan Boehm and Markus Golden were named to pre-season award watch lists.

Monday, Golden was named to the 20th Annual Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List, which the Maxwell Football Club presents to the best collegiate defensive player. On Tuesday, Boehm was placed on the watch list for the Rimington Award, awarded to the nation's best center. Thursday, Golden found his name on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, and Boehm, a junior, was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List.

The Football Writers Association of America awards the Nagurski honor to the best defensive player in the NCAA. The Outland list consists of 64 interior linemen.

Golden led Missouri defensive ends last season with 55 tackles, despite sitting out more than half of Missouri's defensive snaps. Boehm has started all 26 games the previous two seasons.

Boehm, Golden and quarterback Maty Mauk will accompany coach Gary Pinkel to the Southeastern Conference Football Media Day in Hoover, Ala. They are scheduled to appear Wednesday.
