Thompson (Jefferson City) shot a seven-over 79 in the girls age 14-18 division on the opening day of the two-round tournament at Paradise Point Golf Club. Ashley Childers of Mount Vernon leads with a 78.
Jenna Kosmatka (Helias High School) is tied for ninth after carding an 85. Mattison Ditter of Ashland is 29th after shooting a 99.
Kory Franks is tied for fifth in the boys age 14-18 division after Monday's play.
Franks (Blair Oaks High School) shot a one-under 71. Andy Spencer of Prairie Village, Kan., tops the field after carding a four-under 68.
Walker Kesterson (Southern Boone High School) is tied for 21st with a 74. Gabe Trowbridge (Jefferson City High School) is next among area players, shooting a 75 to tie for 33rd. Tanner Elder (Blair Oaks) is in a tie for 69th after recording a 78, while Andrew Hansen (Jefferson City) is tied for 119th with an 88 and Brett Trowbridge (Jefferson City) is 129th with a 98.
Lane Plunkett of Eugene is tied for third in the boys age 12-13 division after shooting a five-over 77. Ross Steelman of Columbia leads after firing a one-under 71.
The championship is scheduled to conclude today.
