Your Opinion: Obama supporter distorts facts

Dear Editor:

I'm writing in response to Robert Haslag's letter of June 29. Words cannot express my disbelief at the disinformation and dishonest political rhetoric included in his letter.

I highly recommend Haslag read the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002, Pub.L. 107-243, 116 Stat. 1498 enacted October 16, 2002, H.J.Res. 114. This is a joint resolution passed by the U. S. Congress in October 2002 as Public Law No: 107-243, authorizing military action against Iraq. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Resolution ). This website cites 12 factors to justify the use of military force against Iraq.

This resolution passed the House of Representatives with 215 Republican votes and 82 Democrat votes. It passed the Senate with 48 Republican votes and 29 Democrat votes.

Since it takes 218 votes in the House and 51 votes in the Senate for passage, it's apparent that were it not for Democrats voting for the resolution it would have failed. Some notable Senators voting for the resolution were Vice President Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Considering the fact that Congress had access to the same classified intelligence information that the president had, not even Barack Obama or Bill Clinton could tell enough lies to hoodwink 111 Democrats to support the Iraq invasion!

A permanent 275-member Council of Representatives was elected in the December 2005 Iraqi legislative elections. I would say by changing a dictatorship to an Islamic, democratic, federal parliamentary republic in two years and nine months after the invasion would make the Iraq war a success not the folly the Bush bashers would have you believe.

I wonder if Haslag would have blamed Roosevelt for starting WWII if Truman had not taken his Constitutional responsibility of winning it. He could have easily left Europe and Japan out on a limb like Obama has with Iraq and getting ready to do in Afghanistan.

What would Europe and Japan look like today if he had? Well, we're finding that out in the Middle East thanks to Obama's policy blunders in Iran, Egypt, Libya, Syria and now Iraq and soon Afghanistan.

I feel it's shameful how the Obama supporters continue after five and one-half years to distort and/or omit historical facts to cover for Obama by blaming George Bush. After five and one-half years of foreign policy blunders by the Obama regime we still have two and one-half years left. Scary, isn't it?
