WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - Billy Hurley III shot a 7-under 63 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Greenbrier Classic.

Hurley played bogey-free in shooting his lowest score of the season. The former U.S. Navy officer says it was "pretty cool" that it occurred on America's birthday.

Hurley had a 9-under 131 total at Old White TPC.

Kevin Chappell and Chris Stroud were tied for second. Chappell had a 65 and Stroud shot 66.

Troy Matteson had a 61 to vault into fourth place at 7 under.

Brice Garnett, Steve Stricker and Chris Kirk were 6 under. Garnett shot 66, Stricker 68 and Kirk 69.

First-round leader Jonas Blixt, the defending champion, shot 73 to drop to 3 under.

FRENCH OPEN

SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France (AP) - American Kevin Stadler increased his lead to three strokes in the French Open, following his opening 64 with a 68.

Stadler, the Phoenix Open winner in February, had a 10-under 132 total on Le Golf National's Albatross Course, the site of the 2018 Ryder Cup.

France's Victor Riu was second after a 67. Defending champion Graeme McDowell was tied for fourth at 3 under after a 69, and U.S. Open winner Martin Kaymer was another stroke back after a 68.

NOVA SCOTIA OPEN

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) - Canada's Roger Sloan shot a 6-under 65 for a share of the second-round lead with Mexico's Jose de Jesus Rodriguez in the Web.com Tour's Nova Scotia Open.

The 27-year-old Sloan, a former Texas-El Paso player from Calgary, Alberta, matched first-round leader Rodriguez at 10-under 132 on Ashburn Golf Club's New Course. Rodriguez had a 69.

American Zack Sucher and England's David Skinns were tied for third at 7 under. Sucher shot 66, and Skinns had a 70.
