California drops title game, Russellville takes third in Russellville Tournament

RUSSELLVILLE -California couldn't complete the comeback.

A second-half rally fell short as the Lady Pintos dropped a 49-44 decision to Father Tolton in the championship game of the Russellville Tournament on Thursday night.

Tolton led 14-6 after one quarter and 23-12 at halftime before Califoria cut the deficit to 29-28 after three periods.

Kameron Koetting paced the Lady Pintos with 11 points while Meleigha and Mara Caudel both had 10.

Lindsey Wright paced Tolton (11-4) with 14 points while Hope Wright added 13.

California (12-7) hosts Eldon on Thursday.

In other tournament action Thursday, the Russellville Lady Indians finished on a high note.

Russellville defeated Versailles 41-40 in the third-place game.

Russellville went up 14-6 after one quarter, 32-16 at halftime and 33-25 entering the fourth quarter.

A.J. Grellner paced the Lady Indians with 17 points.

Russellville (7-11) gets another shot at Versailles on Monday at home.
