Science fair projects advance

RUSSELLVILLE — The Cole County Middle School held its annual science fair for sixth graders recently.

From the 26 projects entered, 14 received blue ribbons making them eligible to advance to the Lincoln University Regional Science Fair March 21.

Trenton Morrow and Matt Miller were voted as the first place project, measuring for the “sweet spot” on a bat’s swing.

Ethan Kirchner and Nickolas Graham built a “hover craft,” which earned the second place vote.

And Hannah Malzner and Mariah Dean received third place for measuring the effect of weight on distance traveled for a dump truck.

Judges also appreciated Brandon Zumwalt’s plant sciences entry examining the effects of different types of potting soil.
