Missouri Senate recognizes JC school

The Missouri Senate has recognized the students and staff of the Jefferson City Academic Center for being named a National School of Character.

It was the first time an alternative school in Missouri received the honor, which was announced last May.

Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, sponsored the Senate resolutions honoring JCAC.

The school won the award after undergoing a comprehensive application and interview process with faculty and students to determine the extent that CharacterPlus curriculum has shaped the school's culture.

The CharacterPlus program is designed to reinforce traits - ideals like honesty and responsibility - that are helpful not only in the workforce, but in life.
