Blue Tiger women fall to late rally

BOLIVAR - The Lincoln women's basketball team let another one slip away.

Southwest Baptist rallied from 15 points down early in the second half to hand the Blue Tigers a 66-58 loss in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Lincoln (3-14, 0-10) was 23-of-56 from the field in the game, but just 6-of-16 in the second half to let the Bearcats (8-9, 3-7) back in it.

Angela Randall posted the first double-double of the season for the Blue Tigers, scoring 13 points and grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds to go with five assists and two steals.

Jennifer Rosado poured in a game-high 18 points, while Quiessence Price added 11 to help lead Lincoln, which controlled the tempo the whole first half.

The Blue Tigers jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first 11 minutes of the contest and took a 34-25 advantage into halftime after knocking down six 3-pointers in the first half.

Lincoln opened the second half with a 6-0 run to take a 15-point lead - its largest of the game - with 18:57 to play.

That's when things started to fall apart.

Southwest Baptist went on a 30-9 surge over the next 12 minutes to take a 55-49 advantage with 6:21 left to play and the Bearcats didn't look back from there.

Lincoln was just 4-of-14 from the field, while Southwest Baptist knocked down 13-of-16 of its shots during that span.

Brook Duncan and Alex Botkin both scored 15 points to lead the Bearcats, who were 26-of-60 from the field - 16-of-25 in the second half.

The Blue Tigers claimed a 35-34 rebounding advantage, but Southwest Baptist scored 18 points off 17 Lincoln turnovers.

Lincoln, which has now lost 10 straight, will play at Missouri Western at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
