Blue Tiger men lose by 31

BOLIVAR - The struggles continue for the Lincoln men's basketball team.

Southwest Baptist jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 101-70 win against the Blue Tigers in a Mid-America Intercollegiate matchup on Saturday night.

The 31-point margin was Lincoln's second worst loss since Arkansas Tech claimed a 99-63 victory over the Blue Tigers in the season-opener on Nov. 18.

Joshua Buie scored a game-high 26 points to go along with six steals and five assists to help lead the Blue Tigers, who have now lost 10 straight since knocking off Talladega on Nov. 30.

Jeremy Jackson came off the bench to score 21 points, while DeShon Williams was next in line with six points.

Lincoln was 23-of-62 from the field and 4-of-15 from beyond the arc.

Desi Barmore and Derrick Stewart paced four players in double figures with 23 points apiece to help lead Southwest Baptist (10-9, 3-7).

The Bearcats, who claimed a 46-28 rebounding advantage, were 34-of-57 from the field and 11-of-21 from the 3-point line.

Southwest Baptist used a 9-0 run to take a 14-2 advantage with 15:58 left in the first half. The Bearcats maintained a comfortable lead for the next 11 minutes until Lincoln went on an 8-0 surge to cut its deficit to six at 34-28 with 4:38 left before the break.

The Blue Tigers, who trailed 45-37 at halftime, wouldn't get in closer.

Lincoln was able to stay within eight points through the first three minutes of the second half, but that's when the Bearcats took off.

Southwest Baptist went on a 17-3 run to take a 70-48 lead with 11:26 to play and the Bearcats cruised to their second straight MIAA victory from there.

Lincoln will be back in action Thursday, when the Blue Tigers travel to St. Joseph to take on Missouri Western. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
