Russellville school sending team to lake conference

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Cole County R-1 Schools will send three teams of staff members to present at the 2014 Powerful Learning Conference on Monday and Tuesday in Osage Beach.

Dozens of groups from schools across the state were considered.

School officials were surprised and honored to learn three were selected from Russellville, Superintendent Jerry Hobbs told the school board recently.

The Russellville teams - one from the high school, one from the elementary and middle school building, and an administrative team - will share ways the Mid-Missouri school has become one of the top performing academic schools in the state.

The board also agreed to carry over the current $6,500 tuition rate for the 2014-15 school year. This figure keeps with the agreement with Eldon and California schools, since all three districts receive students from High Point.

The school board members were recognized at the meeting as part of School Board Recognition Week, which will be observed Sunday through Feb. 1.

Cole County R-1 Board of Education members are: Kris Kirchner, Mark Thompson, Jerry Schulte, Jim Campbell, Debbie Malzner, Mike Bungart and Shawn Ehrhardt.
