Cook makes big donation to William Woods

FULTON, Mo. -- William Woods University President Jahnae H. Barnett announced that Sam B. Cook, chairman of the board for Central Trust Bank and former William Woods board member, has made a “significant gift” in support of the school’s Imagine Campaign.

“Sam is a true friend of our faculty, staff and students,” Barnett said in a press release in which she also described Cook and his family as staunch supporters of the university. “We are honored to accept this gift on their behalf.”

Also in the release, Cook praised WWU as a “high-quality university that is continually evolving to meet the demands of higher education and the market place.”

“This gift will help provide both a setting that furthers William Woods’ mission in providing a well-rounded education and a gathering place for all of Mid-Missouri to enjoy,” Cook said in the release.

Barnett also announced the 250-seat amphitheater that is part of the Imagine Campaign will be called Sam B. Cook Amphitheater.

The Imagine Campaign also includes renovation of the president’s home into an alumni and visitors center and establishes an endowment for the Center for Ethics and Global Studies.
