Is there anyone brave enough, whether it be someone from our Legislature, the News Tribune or a consumer of Ameren, as to what has happened with the fuel adjustment refund?
Last August 2013, the Missouri Public Service Commission ordered Ameren (profits from a power sale of two utilities) to refund the consumers through adjusting our fuel charge. To date this has not happened. Why? I suspect they are disputing this charge and delaying this refund.
This charge as it is is outrageous, as is the Jefferson City-Cole County charge. I was advised that this is a business license fee for Ameren that someone approved for payment by the consumer and not Ameren. I suspect this was approved by either our legislators and/or the MPSC.
Is there any other businesses in Jefferson City that has that latitude? I suspect not. Too bad we don't have a competitive option to take our business elsewhere; we are at their mercy and they are abusing it.
