Lady Jays capture California tourney title

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - Jefferson City came out on top.

Megan Foster scored a game-high 16 points and Kezia Martin added 11 as the Lady Jays posted a 47-19 win against Boonville in the championship game of the California Tournament on Saturday night.

Dan Ridgeway picked up his first win as the head coach for Jefferson City since replacing Shane Meyer, who stepped down Thursday to accept an administrative position in the football program at Georgia Southern University.

The Lady Jays (8-7) led 14-11 after one quarter, 27-13 at halftime, and took a 39-15 lead into the final period.

Martin was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Foster was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Jefferson City will host Nixa on Monday.
