Fans of Driver's barbecue sauce can rejoice: The brand is introducing a new line of sauces that will soon appear on grocery store shelves.
Driver's Foods, BBQ and Products LLC became one of several new companies to receive a business license last month. For owner Annette Driver, the business is a means of continuing a rich family tradition that started with her father, Clarence Driver, in the 1970s.
In addition to the family's signature barbecue sauce, Driver's will sell a new concoction: a steak and condiment sauce that comes in zesty and spicy hot flavors. The gluten-free, versatile sauce can be paired with a variety of foods, from burgers to Bloody Marys.
"It's to die for," Driver said.
The condiment sauces will be available for purchase in stores by the end of the month, starting with Hy-Vee, and customers will be able to buy them online in February. Driver hopes to expand the line to the rest of Missouri within the year - and eventually to neighboring states.
Her business is made possible, she says, by the blessings of God and the support of the Jefferson City community.
"I don't take any of that for granted," she said.
