Lady Jays outlast California in overtime

CALIFORNIA - It was a battle to the end.

The Jefferson City Lady Jays emerged victorious in a 38-36 overtime game with the California Lady Pintos in the semifinals of the California Tournament on Wednesday night.

Megan Foster paced the third-seeded Lady Jays with 19 points.

Sydney Deeken led the second-seeded Lady Pintos with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

California jumped out to a 10-5 advantage after one quarter before Jefferson City battled back to take a 18-13 lead into halftime. California cut the deficit to 27-26 heading into the final period before tying the game at 32 at the end of regulation.

California (9-4) plays Battle in the third-place game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Jefferson City (7-7) takes on top-seeded Boonville for the championship at 5 p.m. Saturday.
